Do you like animals? They bring me such a tremendous sense of calm. During times of meaningful change, animals have appeared to me as signs from the Universe. Though the messenger may be small, the message seldom is!
Take this past Friday for instance!
Everything happens for a reason so when my neighbor sent me a text with a photo of a turkey sitting outside my front door, I knew the Universe was at work again. I had grown accustomed to receiving messages from the deer in my backyard, the dragonflies by my pool and the frogs on my windows but a turkey, to the best of my knowledge had never come calling.
My week had been long and though I had been feeling a tad pushed around by my own career aspirations, it was ending on a high note.
The turkey was waiting for me when I arrived home over an hour later. Feeling a sense of adventure I entered my home through the back and tiptoed up to my front door, careful not to make noise. The turkey moved off my front step but immediately came back. When she turned her head and looked me in the eye, I felt nothing but peace.
Now and then she walked around a snowy patch on my sidewalk but always returned to stand by my front door. I looked for other turkeys but saw none. I put my five bags of groceries away (purchased in preparation for an upcoming snowstorm) and checked out what Google had to say about the spiritual meaning behind seeing a turkey.

When we begin to see animals as spiritual teachers and message couriers, it opens us up to a whole new world of insight.
Since I couldn’t find my copy of “Animal Speak” by Ted Andrews I headed back to the internet for more info.
I found that the turkey symbolizes such things as: the spirit of giving, sharing blessings with the community, abundance, harvesting the fruits of our labor, contentment and connecting with and honoring nature.
According to Marley Jamason, “You can cross paths with Animal Medicine messengers in the physical realm (AKA “real life”), in a dream, in a meditation, through thought, intuition, or via a video or image — it doesn’t matter how you encounter your spiritual messenger (though meeting with an animal messenger in person is always thrilling!)” Google search 3-8-19
I grinned then laughed! The night before I had stood in front of a sold-out audience of people waiting to hear what I had to say about intuition, spirits and spooks. The event was a tremendous success and I still felt the natural buzz I get from helping people understand the language of intuition and their connection with those-in-spirit.
I consider peace abundance and overall, have been feeling it deeply and more often than ever before. In the past few months I’ve been quoted in a few national publications and have made great strides in other areas of my writing career as well. I knew intuitively that my ignited energy was taking me somewhere good.
I’ve always loved and respected animals and considered them to be my friends. They are wonderful confidants and couriers of messages. As the meaning of the visit from my new turkey friend set in, I felt hugged from the inside out.
A few minutes later, I walked from the kitchen to my front door and wasn’t at all surprised to see that the turkey had flown the coop. Her message delivered, she went on her way.
